If you’re looking to completely restart your iPhone, you can perform a hard reset or a simple restart. Here are the steps for both methods depending on your iPhone model:
For iPhone 8 and later (iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, 14, etc.):
- Press and hold the Volume Up button quickly, then release it.
- Press and hold the Volume Down button quickly, then release it.
- Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears, then release the button.
For iPhone 7 and 7 Plus:
- Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Sleep/Wake (Side) button at the same time.
- Keep holding both buttons until you see the Apple logo, then release.
For iPhone 6s and earlier (iPhone SE, 5s, 5, and earlier models):
- Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake (Top) button simultaneously.
- Keep holding both buttons until you see the Apple logo, then release.
To Completely Power Off Your iPhone:
- Press and hold the Side button and either Volume button until the power off slider appears.
- Slide to power off.
- To turn your iPhone back on, press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.
Additional Note:
If you’re looking to factory reset your iPhone (erasing all content and settings), you can do that through the settings:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap General.
- Scroll down and tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Tap Erase All Content and Settings and follow the on-screen instructions. Make sure to back up your data before doing this, as it will remove everything from your device.
