To manually start the Quick Start feature on an iPhone, which is a convenient way to set up a new iPhone using your current device, follow these steps:
- Ensure Both Devices Are Ready: Make sure both your old iPhone (or other compatible Apple device) and the new iPhone are charged and nearby.
- Turn On the New iPhone: Press and hold the side button (or the top button for older models) until you see the Apple logo. Slide to set up when prompted.
- Select Your Language and Region: On the new iPhone, choose your language and region.
- Enable Bluetooth: Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your old iPhone. You can do this by swiping down from the top right corner of the screen (or up from the bottom on older models) and tapping the Bluetooth icon.
- Start Quick Start: On the new iPhone’s setup screen, you should see a prompt that says “Set Up Manually.” Tap this if Quick Start doesn’t appear automatically.
- Pair the Devices: On your old iPhone, you should see the Quick Start screen with an option to use your Apple ID to set up the new iPhone. Tap “Continue.” A swirling animation will appear on the new iPhone.
- Scan the Animation: Use your old iPhone to scan the animation on the new iPhone. This will link the two devices.
- Follow Instructions: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process. You may be asked to enter your Apple ID password, set up Face ID or Touch ID, and choose settings.
- Transfer Data: You will have the option to transfer data from your old iPhone to the new one either directly or via iCloud, depending on your preference.
- Complete Setup: After following all the prompts and transferring your data (if you choose to), your new iPhone will be ready to use.
If you encounter any issues or if Quick Start doesn’t show up, ensure both devices are running compatible versions of iOS. Quick Start requires iOS 11 or later, and both devices need to be signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID.
